My Giant Problems

“That giant was just in my backyard and I’m scared,” a different Calle Don Leandro caller said. The caller was not sure if the giant was still in the area. Police were unable to locate the giant.

Yet another story from Rio Grande NM. Obviously, the caller was unaware of the tradition of the Christmas Giant, so popular in West Texas and Southern New Mexico.

I think I’ve seen him, Donnie!! Is he kinda greenish lookin’ wearin’ a green leafy kind of toga? Does he have a can of corn in his hand? Or was it peas? I know! It was asparagus!!

It was probably the Jolly Green Giant fleeing the thing that he fears most . . . one of those mechanical avocado pickers.
