The Christmas Float DUI

David Allen Rodgers, 42, was arrested Dec. 3 for driving while intoxicated — at the wheel of a float during the annual Christmas parade in Anderson, S.C. According to witnesses, Rodgers sped down Main Street in the Steppin’ Out Dance Studio float with 19 people aboard, ran a red light and led police on a three-mile chase.
Police said that when Rodgers finally stopped, they found an open container of alcohol in his truck. “I made a very bad judgment on my part,†Rodgers said at a court hearing.

oh goody another wildest police video footage to view what he was going about 15mph maybe and he said bad judgement on his part duh ya think ???

ROFL, this is great. While potentially a serious situation, I still wish they’d gotten a video of that, particularly the hot pursuit! And at what point did the ‘dancers’ realize that they’d left the parade route?
Man, this is gonna keep me chuckling all day. Recommend for STM honors.

All good comments. I have to agree on that. I just have a mental picture of some deranged drunkard laughing and tossing beer cans out the window. The dancers holding on for dear life as they get tossed around the float….at 15 MPH! HAHAHAHAHAHA!

Gypsy, I’m reminded of a very similar scene in the movie Animal House. That’s what flavors my mental picture. I can just see this guy jumping out of the float, facing off with the police like John Belushi in a pirate costume.
