The Case of the Haunted Washer
Mukilteo, WA
Last night, a man started a load of laundry. This morning, he found the washing machine lid open and the load half done. There was no sign of forced entry and he knew of no one who might have a key. He advised that he intended to change the locks this evening.

Sounds as if he forgot to put the lid down, and he is never wrong, so someone else who does not have a key, had to have opened it for no reason in the world whatsoever, but to inconvenience him.

Either that, or it was the mother of all unbalanced loads, and the lid popped up during the spin cycle….
