All Pee Is Dirty
Goleta Valley, CA
Acting peculiarly, a young man, 18, continued to walk in and out of the Santa Barbara Sheriff’s Department main station. When contacted, the suspicious subject was unable to provide his own name to authorities nor did he know where he was.
Noting dilated pupils, deputies suspected the man to be under the influence of a controlled substance. When asked to perform a routine urine test, the subject replied, “All pee is dirty.â€
After his arrest, during a search of his property, deputies found a form indicating he’d been released from jail the day prior.

Was I coming from the cop shop or going to it? hmmmmm….
A random drug test to be in society?–I hardly think so!

I hardly think random is the right word, GT. He was pretty obviously on SOMETHING, so why not try to talk him into just giving up the sample instead of going through all the paperwork for a warrant or affidavit of probable cause?

The fifth amendment to the U.S. Constitution goes something like this: “No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a Grand Jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the Militia, when in actual service in time of War or public danger; nor shall any person be subject for the same offense to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation.†Why ask the poor fellow to incriminate himself when what he obviously needs is medical attention?

I think it comes down to simple Survival of the Fittest, which trumps mankind’s puny authoritative rants: Any sick or injured creature will be attacked and/or left to die.

I, for one, am glad he’s off of the street for a little while. I’d hate to be driving somewhere and have him go into his little in/out dance across the highway!

I rest my case…

Jack booted thugs are running roughshod over our Constitution.
I agree with those of you who feel the guy is sick and needs help.

“When contacted, the subject…” When contacted? What’s they do, send him an e-mail.
By the way, we can all see how successful rehab programs are. I’d rather my tax dollars keep this guy in jail away from the rest of society than to waste my tax dollars putting him through a treatment program that isn’t going to work.
