Get Off My Lawn!

Mukilteo, WA
A party called to report that a neighbor kid’s soccer ball went into her backyard. He then knocked on her door but she did not answer so he went inside her backyard to retrieve his ball. She was very upset about this and wanted trespass charges filed against the juvenile. Upon arrival, the officer discovered that the juvenile had not retrieved his ball. It was explained to her that the juvenile had acted reasonably and that charges would not be filed against him. The officers also had her throw the ball back into the juveniles yard.

I have a neighbor like that now—My 4 and 6 yr old were playing ball and by a freak chance one of them connected the bat on the wiffle ball and it went into her yard while she was in it. They asked her if they could have their ball back and she ignored them, so when they told my oldest son, he repeatedly called her name and she ignored him also. So then my wife went out and did the same with the same results. So my wife called the police and they came out and they could not find it and she said she did not have it, but the next morning there it was sitting under the patio table. All this while i’m at work, but I did come home while the police were here.

Maybe this happens all of the time. Maybe not. Either way, it sounds like it was just and accident and she just wanted to be a pain in the a$$. The kid tried to be respectful of her and her property. If she had acted half as civilized as the young man did, there wouldn’t have been any problems.

You got that right JimmyD. Her hostility was really unnecessary. I do like the cop making her throw the ball back into the kid’s yard. Hopefully the kid felt a little vindication by that action since the cop showing up probably scared the snot out of him.

My ex was like that. Our poor son had no one to play with bcause he was such a jerk. He use to horde the balls that came over. I found a grochery bag full of them.
Now that he is gone the kids have thier tennis balls back and my son has kids to play with.
