Sounds like the other guy had a piece of junk and stupid wanted his back and the only way to attempt it was with police presence.

I might have been guilt of something like this - when I was 5.
Now I know to 1. think things through a little better, 2. investigate things I may be going to trade or purchase, and 3. shut up and just take my lumps if I have done something stupid.
