The $12,000 Car Wash

Goleta Valley, CA
A woman who left $12,000 in cash unattended in her car filed a report of grand theft after the money went missing a few weeks ago. The woman, 37, told authorities the money was last seen in an envelope under her car seat at a Fairview Avenue carwash. The woman admitted leaving the money unattended, and out of view, while the car was being cleaned.

Does this woman think she’s going to get it back any time, soon? Now, if the bills were marked in the bank, she might have a chance of recovering the $12,000, or there’s the slim chance that the person who took the money out of the car will have a ‘change of heart’ or have their conscience bother them, and then she might get the money back, but I’d be completely surprised anything like that would happen. It was probably a ‘windfall’ to them, and if they were working in the car either as their main job, or a part-time one, they probably had lots of bills that they could pay off with the money. Had that been me, I’d have opened it, and seeing what it was, called the police and told them where I found it, but I’m honest, to a fault.; other people are not.
