I’m sure that a hotel in downtown Durango during the winter is chock full of guests with others standing in line to get into his room! So, I wonder what the real problem was? Were they angry because he walked instead of taking the elevator?

Unless they had an hourly rate, they can have him arrested. If they have an hourly rate, they should be used to it.

What ever in the world happened to customer service. Is it breaking someones ass to take the man’s money with a cordial smile and a word of thanks? Money is money.
