The Bathing Beauty
Columbia, SC
Five Points business owner noticed a 49-year-old woman bathing in the Five Points fountain on July 18. Responding officers noticed that she emanated a strong odor of alcohol and had slurred speech, and transported her to jail.

With the near-record high temperatures of the past few weeks, some people are being a bit creative in how they stay cool. A number of downtown residents and office workers have taken to cooling off by dipping their feet in the Miller Park fountain. However, one 52-year-old woman went a bit too far last week when she decided to take a bath in the fountain. In broad daylight. Nude. The woman was taken into custody after putting her clothes back on and has been charged with indecent exposure.

like a glass of ice water would not be refreshing?

I don’t see the problem here…

I agree with jumpman, so long as there’s water in it, soak it up!

The 49 year old drunk? Yeah, indecent. The 52 year old? Yay! You go, girl! If more of us actually lived out our fantasies, there would be fewer of us regretting not having done so. When I die, I don’t want to regret not having lived.

AMEN leah, I agree with you completly.

The 49 year old just needed some liquid courage to do what the 52 year old had the confidence to do naturally. Socially acceptable? Clearly not. Indecent? I say it depends on the ugly factor. Let’s face it guys…no one wants to see a 400 pound man wearing a racing speedo (now that’s indecent!) and no one wants to see some clearly unattractive woman (or man) baring it all in public.

I had an enlightening experience in Berlin, Germany. My now husband (then fiance) took me to Gruenwald, where there is a nude beach that he had helped establish in the early ’70’s. At first I was shocked by all the naked people, but I decided to take the plunge,so to speak, and took my clothes off. After about an hour, it seemed quite natural to be naked, and when fully-clothed people walked by, THEY were the ones that seemed unnatural. Later that week we went to a family picnic at another lake, and although most people wore swim suits, there were several people swimming in the nude. No one made a big deal out of it. Since that time I can’t see what the big deal is about nudism. Of course, there is a time and place for it, but if we (Americans) would shed our Puritanism, there wouldn’t be such a desire to look at the human body as a sexual thing, but as a normal, natural thing.

I agree, Ber. But I also think there are some people (quite possibly me included) who are better left gift wrapped.

Well, guys, I guess opinions are like birthday suits: we naturally all have one. Judgements, however, are like accessories we picked up along the way.

To this medium pimpers ears, what Berlincoln said sounds like blasphemy.

At the nude beach, there were all sorts of body types, from young shapely things to people who seemed to be mummies brought back to life. It was interesting, to say the least. And the women who looked like life sized Barbies were, frankly, boring to look at. Cookie cutter shapes. (Not that I make a point of checking out other women, but they were there). Face it, we’ve all seen naked bodies, our own, for example, and there’s nothing shocking about it if everyone is just hanging around (no pun intended) having the same kind of time as someone fully clothed. I would do it again in a heartbeat. I truly can’t see what the big deal is.
