A 47-year-old man wielding a 3-foot metal pipe dropped through the ceiling of a First Citizens Bank on Aug. 11 and demanded money. He fled on foot and was apprehended two blocks from St. Julian’s Place.

Somebody needs to reevaluate their security procedures. And get stronger ceilings.

How did they know it was 3 feet long? Is that the standard issue size for bank robbers? If it was 2 foot long, would he have been charged with carrying a sawed-off pipe?

Ms Berrrrr ~~~ you bring up an interesting point, but you are assuming that it was 3 ft in length. A close reading of the report reveals that it could very well have been 3 ft diameter . . . highly improbable, but ‘makes just about much sense as the rest of this episode. If however, it were, in fact, 3 ft in diameter, there is no way in hell I’d want to be anywhere near that sucker when he got mad!
