Isn’t this a standard scam to sell freezers?

This happens in my town periodically. I’ve been approached several times by guys who just happen to have some “excellent” steaks or whatever in the trunk of their car. Yeah, like I’d want meat stored in the trunk anyhow. I just tell ‘em I’m a vegetarian and never touch the stuff. I assume it’s some sort of scam, but whether or not it’s to sell freezers–I don’t know. They ususally have an assortment of meat–it’s just my weird side, but I’m thinking disposable body parts.
    Eeeuw!

In some cities, grocery stores have a policy of throwing away meat that is 1 day old, or excess meat and produce that the store has no shelf room for. Instead of lowering the price of thoses tomatoes and selling them quicker and making the customers very happy, the store will throw away the excess cases (what they cannot put on the shelf). This food is not given to charity because it is parishable. Many people in these urban areas have learned to use this method of getting food for themselves and also to possibly make money selling it. There are people who will not take charity and this is where they get their food. In some areas of the country they get better food then we the buying public. It is a shame but the grocery stores should not be so wastefull.

I would not buy meat from anyone on the streets. If necessary, I will go Dumpster Diving for myself.

Is this illegal? well, I guess that would depend a lot on the type of meat being sold……

it is against federal law to do that USDA laws..and i hear PD calls for that on the scanner as well around here..if the meat is being tossed out it obviously is no longer any good unfrozen it cannot last long at all..even on discount i wouldnt take a chance as a customer either..they have soup kitchens if you wont go to one then starve with your stubborn pride and ignorance dont go selling someone something that could make them very sick and possibly kill them its already bad and then its kept in a trunk…can we say bacteria
