Any day is a nice day for a white wedding at Wal-Mart. A 24-year-old woman was at work on Dec. 4 when a co-worker congratulated her on her nuptials. She reported to police that someone had listed her on Wal-Mart’s registry for a wedding that is supposedly taking place April 17. The woman is not engaged and has no plans to get married. Apparently, falsely listing someone on a bridal registry is not a crime.

A 41-year-old Village of Pewaukee woman is facing possible charges after she wielded a knife at a man in a shopping mall parking lot Oct. 11.
According to the report, the woman was driving in the area of Wal-Mart at about 2:30 p.m. and was stopped at an exit. She claimed another vehicle then nearly hit her pickup truck.
The driver of the other vehicle, a 30-year-old Hartland man, told police the woman had just stopped in the road and started to wave her arms, the report said.
The woman and the man parked in the lot near Office Max, 2840 Heritage Drive, and the man got out of his vehicle to see what she was doing. The woman said the man made a derogatory remark toward her, the report said.
The woman got out of her truck and was brandishing a Ka-Bar Marine Corps knife and went toward the man, who got back into his vehicle. The man said the woman then kicked his vehicle.
The man called police, who found the woman in the parking lot. The woman initially denied having a knife, but later admitted it was in her truck.
Police are recommending the Waukesha County District Attorney’s Office charge the woman with disorderly conduct.

Wal-Mart, some people love it, some not so much. The assistant manager for Wal-Mart on Brookpark Road called police on June 2 to alert them to a potential deterrent for those looking for big discounts on tube socks and TVs.
The assistant manager said the Wal-Mart corporate office called the local store with a warning: a group wearing gas masks, yellow jackets and armed with caution tape might be heading their way. According to the employee, they were told the group is called Detox Wal-Mart. They show up at local stores and often try to tape off/shut the entrance doors. She was told the police units were advised and police said to call them if the group shows up and causes any problems.

Wal-Mart isn’t just the number-one retailer in the universe. It also leads the way in calls for help to local police.
No west-county property generates more calls-for-service to the Clark County Sheriff’s Office than Wal-Mart on Northeast Highway 99, according to a sheriff’s report.
And beating out the entire county for police calls to any “retail, commercial or residential development” is the Wal-Mart retail complex the anchor store and its satellite storefronts and fast-food restaurants at the intersection of Mill Plain Boulevard and Interstate 205.
n “Wal-Mart consistently ranks among the top 10 locations locally generating calls for law enforcement service.”
• The Mill Plain Wal-Mart, 221 N.E. 104th Ave., generated 490 calls for service in 2005.
• The Hazel Dell Wal-Mart, 9000 N.E. Highway 99, generated 479 calls.
• There were 112 arrests made at the Hazel Dell Wal-Mart in 2005. Fifty-three of those people went straight to jail. Most of the rest were cited and released with a future court date.
