Residents of a Clifton Heights house got a surprise Monday when they got home – a stranger asleep on their couch.
Mark Brown, 47, who told police he is homeless, was arrested and charged with burglary.
Police said Brown broke into the home in the 2300 block of Sauer Avenue and then laid down on the couch in the front room to take a nap.

That’s what he was doing when the homeowners returned.

Hamilton County Municipal Court Judge Nadine Allen set Brown’s bond today at $5,000.

6:21 a.m. A microwave caught on fire in the Parkview apartments. When police spoke with the tenant whose microwave caught on fire, he appeared intoxicated and said that he had fallen asleep and woken to the smell of smoke and the fire alarm. The man said that he had made pasta with the microwave, but he then had eaten it and turned the microwave off. When police examined the microwave, they found that it had a toggle switch, meaning that the microwave would stay on until it was shut off, and they also found pasta near the microwave. The man then said it was possible that he had left the microwave on.

A woman was asleep in her apartment on Maynard Court. She woke up and noticed a burning sock. Someone had lit a sock on fire and set it on her window ledge outside her apartment. Police arrived and found a burnt sock on the ground near her apartment. There were no injuries from the sock-burning. An officer wrote, “It is unknown who lit the sock on fire or why.” Investigation continues on the burning sock.
