The Hooker Did It

Posted on October 14th, 2006

Goleta Valley, CA
While patrolling a parking lot along 4100 State Street closed to the public at night, deputies spotted an illegally parked truck. Upon further investigation, the search revealed two men and a dog sleeping on a makeshift mattress in the truck bed. A search also uncovered two crack pipes. Once awake, the men denied ownership of smoking paraphernalia, quickly passing the blame on a “hooker” they had met earlier.

“We had a hooker in there earlier,” one subject explained. “She probably left it.”

Refusing to provide more information about the “hooker,” one of the men eventually took responsibility for the illegal paraphernalia. He was arrested for possession of a controlled substance.

Olmstead Falls, OH
A 29-year-old Westlake man was arrested Sunday afternoon for assaulting five police officers just a few hours after he was married.

The incident happened when a sergeant pulled over a car on Columbia, near John Road, for speeding.

The driver, the groom’s brother, was given a sobriety test, when the groom began bothering officers about the test.

When told to get back in the vehicle, he refused, at which point officers tried to arrest him.

The man resisted, then started kicking and wrestling with officers. An attempt to subdue him with pepper spray was unsuccessful.

After several minutes, the suspect was detained and taken to Southwest General Health Center.

He was charged with resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, two counts of aggravated menacing and three felony counts of assaulting an officer. Olmsted Township also filed one count of menacing and two felony counts of assaulting an officer.

The bride and her father were also cited for obstructing official business and disorderly conduct.

The Dancer’s Hoax

Posted on October 11th, 2006

Atlanta, GA
Last January, a 25-year-old woman was hired as a dance instructor at a dance school on Buford Highway. Six months later, she told the school’s owners that she had stage-four ovarian cancer. The owners sent letters to the woman’s friends, business associates and parents of the dance students, making them aware of the woman’s battle with cancer. Well-wishers sent money and gifts to the 25-year-old. The owners of the dance school gave her two checks totaling $3,300. They estimate that she got at least $5,000 in money and gifts.

In August, the 25-year-old said she was having surgery at Piedmont Hospital. Turns out, she wasn’t at the hospital at all — and the owners got suspicious. They confronted the woman, and one day later she confessed to the hoax. The owners filed a police report for the woman’s arrest for theft by deception.
