Wanna Buy Some Cheap CDs?

Posted on March 29th, 2007

Scorro, NM
A man on NE Frontage Road reported at 1:30 p.m. he went out to his vehicle and discovered that a Colt .22 caliber pistol, three .22 caliber rifles, a JVC AM/FM/CD player, and numerous CDs had been stolen from inside the car and the trunk. Later in the day he noticed the suspect come into his place of employment in the 500 block of Otero and sold a co-worker some CD’s. He asked to see them and they were his. To recap the story so far: the thief tried to sell stolen stuff to the guy he stole from. The suspect was located a few hours later by other officers and one of the stolen rifles was found in his vehicle. He was arrested and released to the custody of a relative. He told officers he would return the items. Later, the thief returned guns to police, but he returned more guns than were reportedly stolen.

The woman, who had probably been dropping some bombs of her own at the time, decided that this Post-It note was a threat to the security of the campus and phoned Public Safety.

After an extensive check of the building, Public Safety deemed the bomb threat “uncredible” and allowed all in Westby Hall to resume their activities.

High Times In Goleta

Posted on March 26th, 2007

Goleta Valley, CA
A man, 35, who kept a stash of two syringes, 15 morphine pills, and a rock of heroin in his sock — “just in case he was arrested” — was, indeed, arrested earlier this month. Believing the drugs would get him the money he would need in jail, he explained why he hid the contraband in his sock.

Strip-searched when he entered jail, the man was asked by deputies if they would find anything on his person.

“Yeah,” he answered, “I have a couple of rigs in my sock.”

And…

Pulled over for speeding on Calle Real, a couple in the car began arguing until the two had to be separated by deputies. As the male passenger, 43, was removed from the vehicle, a glass pipe was discovered on his seat.

“That’s not mine,” he continued to argue. “I’m being set up.”

Noting that the man’s eyes didn’t react to light, a deputy asked him if he’d taken any drugs.
“That’s just an extra layer of skin over my eye,” he tried to reason.

After testing positive for methamphetamines, the man was arrested for being under the influence of a controlled substance.
